Raimona National Park

Golden Langur Sanctuary

Overview

Raimona National Park, declared in 2021, represents a new chapter in Bodoland's conservation story. Located in Kokrajhar district, this 422 sq km park was carved out of the Ripu-Chirang Reserve Forest and is famous as the habitat of the golden langur, an endangered primate found only in this region. The park shares its northern boundary with Bhutan and the River Sankosh, creating a transboundary conservation corridor. What makes Raimona special is the story of reformed poachers who now work as forest guardians, protecting the very wildlife they once hunted.
